On Monday 17 November 2025, WBro Clayton Fisher OBE (Worshipful Master of Kennard Lodge No.1258) visited the ‘Dinky Dragons’ / Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Grange Hospital, Cwmbran, to present a cheque for £250 to Sarah Power, the Senior Sister of Neo-Natal Services. To quote the ‘Dinky Dragons’ charity: “The donation will be used to help purchase equipment to treat premature and sick babies, to improve their quality of life and to support parents through their Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit journey’“.
This donation was made on behalf of the Monmouthshire Masonic Trust Fund 1997, following a proposal submitted by Kennard Lodge. The original proposition came from WBro Ian Hatchley whose own family have witnessed first hand the amazing work of ‘Dinky Dragons’ and the NICU. By happy coincidence, 17 November 2025 marked the World Health Organisation’s ‘World Prematurity Day’ – a most appropriate date for MonMasons to recognise and support the life-saving work of ‘Dinky Dragons’/NICU.

Congratulations to all those who received appointments and promotions — your hard work and dedication truly shine. A full house enjoyed a day filled with friendship, an excellent ceremony, and fine food shared in great company. Our thanks to the distinguished visitors who travelled from far and wide to be with us and make the day even more special.
The Brethren from Pontypool were well represented as the below slideshow demonstrates.
Welcome Brother Paul
Friday evening saw Henllys Lodge perform their second initiation ceremony of the week. Mr Paul Urie joined Henllys Lodge and Freemasonry and becomes Brother Paul Urie. An excellent ceremony delivered by the Worshipful Master, David Coleman, in his second ceremony as W.M. He was ably assisted by his officers, in particular Brother Aron Hutchings, the Junior Deacon, who lead the candidate through the ceremony of his initiation. A well attended ceremony was followed by a very enjoyable festive board and getting to know our newly made Brother.

Demonstration Raising
At Llantarnam Lodge last night, we conducted a raising to the third degree. Due to unforeseen circumstances our candidate was not able attend so we did a demonstration ceremony and our Worshipful Master was in fine form completing all of the ritual on his own. Thank you Brother Drew for stepping up to be the candidate and we look forward to raising our actual candidate next month. A thoroughly enjoyable evening and the first one for the officers of 2025/26!
Henllys Fraternal Visit to Trevethin
A successful night at Trevethin Lodge 6008 where Worshipful Master Neil and his team of officers carried out an excellent Second Degree ceremony! All brethren were on top form, from the Inner Guard all the way up to Worshipful Master himself. What made it even more special was a fraternal visit from the brethren of Henllys Lodge filling the lodge and helping towards a wonderfully fun Festive Board! And so to next month!
Remember non-masons, if you’re interested in Masonry, the first step is to get in touch! ![]()

Kennard Installation 2025
This evening at Pontypool Masonic Centre Worshipful Brother Clint Fisher installed his “blood brother” W.Bro. Clayton Fisher as Worshipful Master of the Kennard Lodge, Number 1258, in an outstanding and sometimes emotional ceremony. It was a pleasure and honour for all the Brethren present to witness such an installation; with the Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother Christopher Evans, Deputy Provincial Grand Master, Very Worshipful Brother Robert Jones and the past Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro. Richard G. Davies in attendance.
The Lodge also presented the Provincial Grand Master with a cheque for £1,258 for the Monmouthshire Masonic Trust Fund 1997.
A fantastic evening for all the Brethren present.
Llantarnam Installation 2025
This evening saw Worshipful Brother Christopher Parish installed as Worshipful Master of Llantarnam Lodge for the ensuing year. Congratulations to the new Worshipful Master of Llantarnam Lodge and the installing Master, Worshipful Bro. Richard Beavan on an excellent ceremony. Wishing the New Worshipful Master a successful and fulfilling year in the Chair of King Solomon. It was wonderful to see so many Masters and visitors present for what was truly memorable evening for all in attendance, and a proud moment for the Lodge.
The Provincial Grand Master, Deputy Provincial Grand Master and Past Provincial Grand Master of Monmouthshire were in attendance together with brethren from several adjoining Provinces. An excellent ceremony followed by an Installation Dinner enjoyed by over 40 brethren.
The Lodge also made a very generous donation of £1000 to the Monmouthshire Masonic Trust Fund 1997; made up of the moneys raised from the evening’s raffle and the Lodge Charity Fund. Llantarnam Lodge also donated £1,300 from their “Race Night” to the Pontypool Masonic Centre Building Fund. A fantastic achievement for the Lodge and its Brethren.

Henllys Installation 2025
Thursday evening saw over 80 freemasons attend Henllys Lodge 8283 for their Installation meeting. We were proud to see the new Master, Worshipful Brother David Coleman, installed into the Chair of King Solomon in a packed and vibrant meeting.
It was fantastic to welcome strong support from Monmouthshire Freemasons and the Wyvern Chapter Widows Sons who turned out in great numbers to back both the new Master and the Installing Master, Worshipful Brother Jonathan Davies, both proud members of the Chapter themselves.
A truly memorable evening of brotherhood, tradition, and support.
